How To Delete Knox App On Galaxy S4

Samsung Knox is an enterprise mobile security solution (technically, a secure data container). KNOX security solution comes in most Samsung Galaxy devices. KNOX can be very useful, but some users want to uninstall it, so we'll show you how to do it.

If you do not trust password managers or cloud encryption services but instead prefer securing your files directly on your device, then you should probably keep Samsung KNOX installed. Either way, if you want to keep using your device for both work and personal space, KNOX could come handy. But, there are downsides to keeping KNOX installed on your galaxy devices. Could you think about some of the drawbacks?

Note: According to a recent report by Gartner, Samsung KNOX is believed to be the most secure solution beating iOS and Android. So, we would advise not to uninstall it if the security of your device is the priority.

Cons Of Having Samsung KNOX Installed

At present, I can think of only two of the disadvantages of having KNOX installed.

  •  Apps like SuperSU & Chainfire will not be able to work properly when rooted
  • If you like flashing custom ROMs or want to carry out experimental modifications, KNOX will let Samsung know whether your device has been altered or not. Samsung could utilize this information to deny support for the device within your warranty period.

Method 1: Using Root explorer (Rooting Required)

Step #1: Unlock your bootloader.

Step #2: Root your Android device using any of the methods (King root app, Odin, and such) in order to gain root access.

Step #3: Install Root Explorer app from the Google Play Store.

Step #4: Perform a search query – "KNOX", which would show you all the files associated with Samsung KNOX.

Step #5: Now, remove the required files to uninstall Knox and reboot your smartphone.

Method 2: Using Android Terminal

Step #1: Install Android Terminal Emulator.

Step #2: Launch the application. In order to work properly, the emulator may ask to grant permission for SuperSU access.

Step #3: You need to write a line a code in order to disable Samsung KNOX permanently.

Here is the command:

su pm disable com.sec.knox.seandroid

Method 3: Using NoBloat Free (Requires Root Access)

Step #1: Install NoBloat Free app from the Play Store.

Step #2: Launch the application and search for the files associated with Samsung KNOX.

Step #3: Now, head on to delete them to uninstall Knox. And, finally, reboot your device.

Method 4: Using Titanium Backup Pro (Paid version recommended)

Step #1: Install Titanium Backup from the Play Store.

Step #2: Similar to Method 1 (Root explorer), you need to search for "KNOX".

Step #3: Now, you will observe all of the files associated with Samsung KNOX listed. Here, instead of deleting them, you need to freeze them first.

Here are the files that you will have to freeze:

  • com.sec.enterprise.knox.attestation
  • com.sec.knox.eventsmanager
  • KLMS Agent
  • KNOX
  • Knox Notification Manager
  • KNOX Store

Step #4: Finally, remove all of the files associated with KNOX to uninstall it and reboot the device.

Method 5: Simply, Uninstall It

Samsung's official site also explains a variety of ways to uninstall KNOX which includes the following:

  • Uninstall Samsung KNOX app directly from applications manager. Even if you have KNOX for consumers installed, you will still be able to uninstall it this way only with an extra backup option which puts your secured documents in a backed up secure container.
  • Log in to MyKnox Portal, and simply click unenroll from KNOX while you look at the options to manage your device.
